Feeling Thankful

Thanksgiving falls later than usual this year, but here in the Bluestocking Salon, we’re celebrating early. (Not with the turkey and football, mind you. We’ll be tucking into those treats on November 28, along with the rest of the country.) But this week, as the Bas Bleu team prepares for its busiest season of the year, we’re taking a minute to stop, catch our collective breath, and count our blessings. And topping our list of what we’re thankful for:

You.

Because, dear reader, we couldn’t do what we do without you. The books, the catalogs, the carefully packed packages…they don’t amount to a hill of beans without the support of our fellow bluestockings. Every day we are heartened by your devotion to the written word in a time when faster, flashier entertainment options abound. We know we’re not the biggest (or, let’s face it, the cheapest) folks in the business, and yet you stick by us, year after year. Some of you have been with us from the very beginning—nearly two decades! We hope you keep coming back because you believe in what we do: champion interesting, out-of-the-ordinary, and, yes, sometimes downright odd little books and gifts.

So this November, before the season of gratitude is swept away by tinsel and wrapping paper and holiday-movie marathons, we just wanted to say “thank you.” For your support. Your trust. Your book recommendations. Thank you for being gentle when we get it wrong, for cheering us on when we get it right, and for making it possible for all of us in the Bas Bleu family to play our small part in keeping the love of good old-fashioned books alive and well.

Happy Thanksgiving.
