Read, White, and Bleu: A Literary Presidential Primary

vote buttonIn January, we announced Bas Bleu would be hosting our own 2016 presidential election, with your favorite literary characters as the candidates. We asked our readers for nominees…and boy, did you deliver! We were inundated with amazing suggestions for president and vice president, plus a number of wonderfully creative ideas for bookish U.S. Cabinet nominees. We’re delighted by your enthusiasm for our democratic endeavor, but your job as electorate isn’t over yet!

Our editors pored over your submissions and culled twelve pairs of nominees from the list. Now we need you to vote in our first literary primary, to trim the field to just six pairs of nominees. Your choices include characters from several American classics, a beloved children’s story, Jane Austen’s canon, classic British whodunits, the world of Harry Potter, and the popular Outlander and Game of Thrones series. Once you chose the teams who will advance, we’ll present the nominees’ platforms for your consideration and, eventually, your vote.

You can select up to six teams of candidates in the poll below. If you have any thoughts on your favorites’ platforms, campaign slogans, or other election info, feel free to share them in the comments section. And remember: Every vote counts!
