Read, White, and Bleu: Vote Today!

vote buttonElection Day is here, bluestockings!

In January, we announced Bas Bleu would host our own 2016 presidential election, with your favorite literary characters as the candidates. You sent in your nominations, then helped us narrow down the nominees to six teams. Since then, we have presented our readers with the candidates’ biographies, platform issues, and schedules of campaign events.

After months of anticipation and debate, the big day finally has arrived! (Well, more like the big week. You’ll have several days to cast your ballots in our election.) The polls are now open for you to cast your votes for which fictional character you’d most like to be our 45th president.

If you missed any of the candidate features, or if you simply need to refresh your memory, we’re relinking to all of their posts here. Just click on the campaign logos below to read about the candidates and the issues they’re fighting for. Once you’ve made up your mind, vote in our special “ballot” below. (Technically, you could vote more than once, but we trust you, bluestockings, not to stuff the ballot box!) We’ll announce the winner next week!

    • We initially planned to print up t-shirts and stickers for all the candidates, Sara, so our readers could proudly proclaim their literary/political loyalties. Unfortunately, most of these literary works are still under copyright, copyrights held by estates and corporations that are MUCH bigger than our little company and that would have no qualms about sending their lawyers after us. We’re still pretty bummed about it. If somehow we find a way to make it happen, our readers will be the first to know!
